Ukrainian prisoners of war told how they got out of the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka after the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) struck at the detention center.

He noted that the injured were immediately provided with medical assistance, medical workers set priorities according to the severity of the wounded.

“The conditions of stay in the hospital are excellent,” Karnaushenko stressed.

According to the second Ukrainian, during the incident he was at the bottom of a two-story bed, woke up after the explosion, when his friend began to fall on him.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a strike from the American multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS on the night of July 29. Military expert Viktor Litovkin, in an interview with Izvestia, expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian military attacked the pre-trial detention center because the prisoners testify against their leadership.

As of July 30, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 50 Ukrainians were killed in the incident. Many of the 193 prisoners of war were injured, the department added.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the use of prohibited means.

Among the prisoners of war in the pre-trial detention center there were also members of Azov (criminal cases were initiated against the radical formation in the Russian Federation). The ex-commander of this nationalist group, Andrei Biletsky, announced the start of a “hunt” for those responsible for the attack.

Senator Olga Kovitidi, commenting on the shelling to Izvestia, called such actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cynical and said that the Kyiv authorities are dangerous both for Ukrainians and for foreign mercenaries.

The special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military, in connection with which the authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics turned to Moscow for help.
