What do you remember about the second day of the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg

The 25th International Economic Forum continues in St. Petersburg. Today the official start of the business program was given. The morning began with the opening of the booth of the forum’s guest country – Egypt. The official delegation cut the solemn ribbon. One of the business representatives shared his impressions and spoke about plans for cooperation with Russia.

“This is not my first time at the forum, so I’m not too surprised by how well everything is organized and planned here. I represent light industry – this is the textile industry, so I’m determined to find ways to interact with Russian companies that specialize in the same industries. At the moment, there are some difficulties with logistics, but both parties, both Egypt and Russia, will do their best to facilitate and customize logistics transportation so that it is convenient for both countries,” said SALAMTEX CEO Hani Salam.

Sites of all regions of Russia were actively working. This year, the subjects really showed themselves. The stand of Bashkiria was presented by the first deputy prime minister of the republic.

“The St. Petersburg Forum is a key event for us. The republic brought a whole baggage of projects: these are sports events, large, international, European. This, of course, includes the investment projects that we are signing here. The volume of investments is more than 70 billion rubles. Each year has its own specifics. This year is an anniversary. Of course, modern realities dictate new conditions, all regions need to be reformatted, so a lot of attention was paid to the Eurasian space, the CIS countries and neighboring countries,” shared Rustam Muratov.

The day was also rich in signing agreements. For example, the Moscow region agreed with the DPR that by September 1, all educational institutions and roads will be restored in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Now this is a top priority. There were also some negatives. The administration of St. Petersburg, headed by Governor Alexander Beglov, terminated the agreement with Megaline LLC on the development of the Gorskaya territory.

The project implementation agreement was signed last year, also within the framework of SPIEF. For the first time in 25 years of the forum, an investor who fulfilled the terms of the agreement was denied the project.

“We were completely unexpected yesterday, we were at a loss, we learned two news at the same time. The first news is that the city government, the administration, on the same site, a year after the initial document, is going to conclude another agreement on this territory and is going to create a private yacht club on the site of this amazing green city,” said the CEO of the company “ Megaline” Gennady Korupyatnik.

The organizers of the forum did not bypass the topic of the information war, which has been unfolding in cyberspace in recent months. The discussion “Fake news in the era of globalization” was led by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. She was joined by pranksters Vovan and Lexus, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications Alexander Khinshtein and others.

“Of course, in terms of the strength of the impact, earlier disinformation, fakes, and so on were much more decisive. Today the situation, I believe, is the opposite. Today, people have the opportunity to counteract this. Firstly, by checking the information, secondly, by spreading a refutation, and thirdly, by having the technical ability to have various sources of information,” said Maria Zakharova.

The head of the Lugansk People’s Republic spoke about the situation in the Lugansk People’s Republic Leonid Beekeeper. According to him, in the territories of Popasnaya, Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, Rubizhne and Kremennaya, shelling is still ongoing. However, he assured that the residential areas of Severodonetsk were completely liberated.

“The territories of Severodonetsk, Lysichansk, Popasnaya, which was recently liberated, Rubizhne and Kremennaya, which are close to the combat zone, continue to be shelled today. The population needs water, humanitarian aid, food, medicines. We have organized events for the delivery of food products, which we, among other things, receive from the territory of the Russian Federation as humanitarian aid, and we also deliver medical assistance there. At the moment, it is not possible to organize assistance in full, because these settlements continue to be actively shelled by the armed formations of Ukraine, ”said the head of the LPR.

SPIEF 2022 will continue tomorrow. The guests will have an equally rich program, even more interesting discussions, as well as a speech by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
