In the area of the Uglegorsk thermal power plant in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were located, with the arrival of the allied forces, Ukrainian military units fled, leaving dugouts, trenches, mines, uniforms and food rations and cartridges for machine guns supplied by Western countries. Izvestia correspondent Murad Magomedov showed what abandoned positions look like now.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces were hiding here, a lot of concrete was poured, but the roof was not very reinforced. The Russian shell pierced it. Those who survived fled,” the journalist said.

Retreating, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also left documents, for example, an extract from the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The military commissar also showed traces of shots from an RPG manufactured in 1982, full packs of cartridges and bullets left in the dugout.

As a soldier of the second corps of the People’s Militia of the LPR with the call sign “Aibolit” said, during the liberation of the territory, the allied troops entered from Uglegorsk, made their way through Krasnaya Gora.

“They had a very large fortified area there. It was very difficult to take it, but still we managed to get to Svetlodarsk, and from there to the Uglegorsk TPP itself, ”he said.

The military man clarified that the fighters entered the Uglegorsk TPP in small groups, since there was a large accumulation of enemy equipment and manpower in the fortified area.

Earlier, on July 29, Izvestia’s military commander Semyon Yeremin showed the Uglegorsk TPP in Novoluganskoe, which had been liberated from units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). He said that a peaceful life is being established in the settlement, but the border areas are still under shelling.

On July 27, the official representative of the second corps of the People’s Militia (NM) of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) Ivan Filiponenko announced the complete liberation of the Uglegorsk TPP from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Uglegorsk thermal power plant is one of the largest thermal power plants in Europe and the largest in Ukraine.
