During the retreat, soldiers of the 1st Corps of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) left their weapons. The positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were equipped in former cowsheds, the trenches are completely fresh, he noted.
“This is one of the fortified areas of the enemy, which was held for seven to eight years. This paved the way for further advances. Now we have moved further,” said a DNR fighter with the call sign “Quiet”.
He added that no one would leave options to the nationalists, they would only retreat.
A fighter with the call sign Rambo noted that Ukrainian radicals left a lot of weapons supplied by NATO countries in abandoned positions.
On August 5, the village of Peski, located near Donetsk, came under the control of the allied forces. A day earlier, Ilya Yemelyanov, deputy commander of the 11th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Enakievo-Danube Regiment of the People’s Militia of the DPR, announced the establishment of control over 70% of the village of Peski. He clarified that the main forces of the Ukrainian army had already been knocked out, the settlement was being cleaned up, since many basements and private houses were converted into military posts.

Russia launched a special operation to protect the DPR and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) on February 24. It was preceded by an aggravation of the situation in the region, an appeal by the leadership of the Donbass republics to the Russian Federation with a request for help, and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the DPR and LPR.
Kyiv has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état in Ukraine, since 2014.
