US launched an investigation against Russia

Russia’s industrial policy may threaten US national security. About it informs US Department of Commerce Press Office.

In November 2019, according to Rambler, American vanadium producers US Vanadium and AMG Vanadium contacted the local Department of Commerce – they requested an investigation into the import of this metal at low prices and in light of the industrial policy of Russia and China.

Companies were asked to do this on the basis of Section 232 of the Trade Development Act of 1962. It gives the US president the right to restrict imports of certain products if they threaten the country’s national security.

Following the consideration of the appeal, the Ministry of Commerce decided to conduct an investigation. The Office notified the US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.
In the second half of May, US President Donald Trump’s national security adviser Robert O’Brien said that Russia had not used the provisions of the Open Skies Treaty (DON) properly – it was tracking the whereabouts of Trump.
