Ukrainian troops fired on the DPR from large-caliber guns

Ukrainian troops shelled the city of Donetsk, as well as the villages of Yelenovka and Metallist in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) with shells over 150 mm in caliber. This was announced on August 5 by the representative office of the DPR in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire in the Telegram channel.

“Shelling was recorded <...> in the following directions: 8:20 (coincides with Moscow time) – the settlement of Otradovka – the settlement of Metalist: 31 shells of 155 mm caliber were fired; 8:30 a.m. – Novomikhailovka settlement – Elenovka settlement: six shells of 152 mm caliber were fired; 8:33 a.m. — Novomikhailovka settlement — city of Donetsk (Kirovskiy district): five shells of 152 mm caliber were fired,” the statement said.

In addition, on Friday morning, the settlement of Zaitsevo and the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk were shelled, the department added.

The Ukrainian military also shelled the Voroshilovsky district of Donetsk the day before. Among other things, the blow was struck on the theater building, where the farewell to the deceased Olga Kachura, the commander of the rocket artillery division (for the organization of combat operations) of the DPR, was held.

As a result, according to the mayor of Donetsk, Aleksey Kulemzin, six people were killed and seven more were injured. According to him, not only the theater building, but also the pedestrian street was under fire from heavy artillery.

Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The key goals of the Russian military are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. This is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian state and people, the Kremlin said.
