Ukrainian Armed Forces fired 20 Grad missiles at Yasinovataya

Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) fired 20 shells from the Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) at Yasinovataya in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). This was announced on Friday, August 5, by the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC).

The shelling took place at 07:15 Moscow time.

“20 missiles were fired from the MLRS BM-21 Grad,” the message says on the representative’s Telegram channel.

Data on the victims and destruction are not given.

On the eve it became known that as a result of the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Voroshilovsky district of the capital of the DPR Donetsk, two people were killed, five more civilians were injured. Also, Ukrainian militants attacked the theater building, where the farewell to the commander of the rocket artillery division of the DPR, Olga Kachura, was to take place.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare on the fact that Ukraine shelled civilian infrastructure in Donetsk.

On August 1, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, announced that the forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic had crossed the Yasinovataya-Konstantinovka highway, which would allow developing an offensive in the direction of Avdiivka and Maryinka. Pushilin added that the troops of the republic had entrenched themselves in the village of Peski and were developing an offensive towards Maryinka.

The special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region after shelling by the Ukrainian military. Due to the deteriorating situation, the authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics turned to Moscow for help.
