Ukraine is ready to offer storage facilities for up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas to European partners

Ukraine is ready to offer storage facilities for up to 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas to European partners.

This was stated by representatives of the GTS Operator of Ukraine and Ukrtransgaz at the Extraordinary 4th Crisis Meeting of SEEGAS JSC, Ukrinform reports with reference to Ukrainian Energy Exchange.

“GTSOU and Ukrtransgaz emphasized that Ukraine is ready to offer storage facilities for up to 10 billion m3 of natural gas to European partners, which is now being actively discussed in the European market. Ukrainian storage facilities are the largest in Europe, about 80% of them are located in the west of the country,” the report says.

It is noted that the operators of the gas transmission system also once again repeated the request to cancel the exemptions from German legislation granted to Nord Stream 1 and move gas volumes to the Ukrainian route.

As reported, in May, the OGTSU and NJSC Naftogaz applied to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection and the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) with a proposal to review the decision of May 20, 2020 on the exception (“derogation”, partial repeal of the provisions of the law) applied to gas transportation by Nord Stream 1.

Earlier, the GTS Operator of Ukraine also called on European countries to stop Russian blackmail and manipulation in the gas market and impose an embargo on Russian energy carriers in order to cut off the flow of funds for the import of Russian resources, directed by the aggressor country to wage war against Ukraine.
