Kyiv demands to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council because of the holding of referendums in the Donbass and in the territories liberated by the Russian army. This statement was made by the representative of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.

On Friday, in the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson region and Zaporozhye, referendums began on joining Russia. Residents will vote for five days, until September 27th.

“Ukraine has demanded an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council regarding the referendums held by Russia,” Nikolenko wrote on Twitter.

The People’s Militia of the LPR also participates in referendums. The fighters have already spoken about their impressions of the ongoing voting.
