A serious accident involving a car claimed the lives of two children in the Tosnensky district, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reports.
The incident occurred on June 26 at about 17:40 Moscow time near the village of Bolotnitsa. According to preliminary information, the driver of the passenger car lost control and collided with a metal fence. The vehicle caught fire due to the impact.
“The driver, born in 1975, as well as two female passengers got out of the cabin. They were taken to the hospital with burns. Children 5 and 7 years old died from burns on the spot, ”the department noted.
Law enforcement officers, doctors and rescuers worked at the scene. The circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation.
