Hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor introduced new gadgets: Trezor Safe 3, a limited edition device of the same name with a focus only on Bitcoin, and Trezor Keep Metal, a solution for backing up a seed phrase.

“Despite the hackneyed axiom not your keys, not your cryptocurrencyonly 2% of 420 million users resort to non-custodial storage. […] It is clear that there is a need to educate people on how to securely store their digital assets and offer them convenient products.” — Trezor head Matej Zhak commented in a conversation with Decrypt.

Trezor Safe 3 supports over 7,000 cryptocurrencies and integrates with the Trezor Suite app for a variety of transactions.

The device has tamper-proof hardware components (EAL6+). It provides additional protection against physical attacks.

If Trezor Safe 3 is lost or stolen, owners can still protect assets with a secure password stored outside the wallet.

According to Jacques, the device is aimed at new participants. The latter, according to the company’s forecasts, will triple the crypto market audience within the next bull market.

Trezor Keep Metal is designed to recover the seed phrase. Unlike paper, which may be used to record it, metal is more durable, withstanding house fires, projectile strikes and other impacts.

Made from aerospace grade stainless steel, Trezor Keep Metal is corrosion resistant and has a waterproof seal that provides protection from fire, water, acids and shock.

“The events of the last year have shown the risks people take when they entrust the storage of cryptocurrencies to centralized exchanges,” – Jacques commented.

Trezor Keep Metal supports both 12 and 24 word standard backups and is also compatible with Shamir backup. The latter is a security standard that allows you to create several unique components for recovering private keys.

In honor of its tenth anniversary, the company will also release a limited edition Trezor Safe 3 device in 2013 that supports only Bitcoin. Part of the proceeds from the sale will go towards the development of Trezor Academy, an educational initiative with a focus on digital gold.

Let us remind you that at the end of May, cybersecurity startup Unciphered posted a video on YouTube with the hacking of the seed phrase of the Trezor T wallet.

Previously, Trezor sales increased by 900% amid controversy surrounding Ledger Recover, an option to restore the seed phrase from a competitor Ledger, which caused a mixed reaction in the community.
