The State Department approved the sale of American missiles to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates

The US State Department has approved a possible sale of missiles to Saudi Arabia and the UAE for a total of $5.2 billion, the US Defense and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on August 2.

Saudi Arabia may purchase missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system for a total cost of $3 billion.

The State Department issued a ruling approving the possible sale to the Saudi government of the PATRIOT MIM-104E Advanced Tactical Ballistic Missiles and related equipment at a cost of approximately $3.05 billion.

In addition, the UAE approved the sale of missiles for THAAD anti-missile systems in the amount of $2.2 billion.

“The UAE government has requested the purchase of 96 THAAD missiles, two THAAD launch control stations and two THAAD tactical operations stations. The total estimated cost of the program is $2.245 billion,” the DSCA said.

On July 21, a deal was approved for the sale of Patriot missiles and related equipment to the Netherlands in the amount of about $ 1.2 billion. It is noted that Amsterdam had previously asked Washington to sell 96 ballistic weapons.

Prior to that, on July 19, it became known that the Czech authorities plan to purchase 24 F-35 fighter jets from the United States. Randy Howard, vice-president of the American company Lockheed Martin, said that the Czech Republic needs fighters, since other European countries will soon have them.

It is noted that investing in fighter jets would be a strategically important decision, in particular because NATO partners already have F-35 aircraft today.

On July 17, the head of the Estonian State Defense Investment Center Magnus-Valdemar Saar expressed hope to receive HIMARS and ammunition from the American manufacturer of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) by the end of 2025.

The United States has already provided Ukraine with these MLRS. So, on July 17, residents of Stakhanov in the Donetsk People’s Republic called the shelling of the city from HIMARS “outright hell.”

On July 15, the US State Department approved the sale of AIM-120 air-to-air missiles to Norway. In total, the American side will supply Oslo with 269 AIM-120 missiles of various series, as well as capture training missiles, technical documentation and auxiliary equipment for servicing weapons.
