The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) for the first time used a new reconnaissance complex based on the Su-34 bomber during a special operation to protect Donbass. This was reported on July 27 by an informed source of RIA Novosti.

“As part of a special operation, the Russian Aerospace Forces began using new reconnaissance systems based on Su-34 front-line bombers, which make it possible to determine with high accuracy the coordinates and other parameters of enemy targets, in particular, air defense positions (air defense – Ed.) And Ukrainian radar stations (radar stations – Ed.), ”said the source of the agency.

He added that the latest suspended universal reconnaissance containers provide such opportunities for aircraft. The Su-34 uses three types of containers – optoelectronic, radar and electronic intelligence. With their help, the complex can “transmit information about enemy military facilities to ground forces and firepower through automatic communication channels in near real time.”

On July 23, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat work of Su-25 attack aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces as part of a special operation. In the process of performing combat missions, the crews of Russian aircraft launched missile air strikes on military facilities and equipment of Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Missile launches were carried out in pairs from low altitudes.

On July 27, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the work of the crews of Mi-8 helicopters with modern electronic warfare systems installed on board during a special operation. It is noted that the pilots of the army aviation of the Aerospace Forces performed the tasks of suppressing the means of electronic intelligence and guidance of the enemy.

In Ukraine and in the Donbass, the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics continues, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the start of the next stage of the military operation – “the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics.”

The situation in the region escalated significantly in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and turned to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR.
