There is a possibility of provocations on the territory of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities. Igor Vishnevetsky, Deputy Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, warned about this on Thursday, August 4.

Members of the Russian delegation at the conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) noted that the actions of the RF Armed Forces do not threaten the country’s nuclear security. In particular, the Zaporozhye NPP is operating normally.

“The Russian military guarded these stations with one single goal — to prevent the use by nationalist Ukrainian formations, as well as foreign mercenaries, of the situation in the country to organize a nuclear provocation, which would have catastrophic consequences,” Vyshnevetsky emphasized.

In addition, it is emphasized that Moscow is ready to facilitate the visit of the IAEA to the station in Zaporozhye and offered security guarantees for the delegates, but the secretariat refused to organize the trip.
