The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin spoke about the revival of the legendary auto brands Volga and Pobeda. In his interview, he said that he was counting on the resumption of production and was ready to provide the necessary assistance.
“Of course, we are counting on the revival of such brands as Volga and Pobeda. We are ready to provide the necessary assistance and support for this,” Nikitin told RIA Novosti.
The head of the region also stressed that Volga was his first car.
“Now I own 21 and 3102 models, I occasionally drive. And for most Nizhny Novgorod residents, this is an important part of their own history,” said the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, announced his intention to revive the Volga and Pobeda car brands in Russia. However, Manturov said that the project could be implemented at different sites. However, he also did not specify the possible timing of the start of production.
“Colleagues have plans to revive, for example, the Volga or Pobeda brand. Or both,” the minister said.
At the same time, the head of the constitutional committee of the Federation Council, Andrey Klishas, positively assessed the plans to revive the Volga and Pobeda automobile brands in Russia, which were produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant.
“I want to say that Volga and Pobeda inspire more optimism than Lada. I’m still for Manturov, not for Siluanov,” the senator wrote on his Telegram channel.
Nizhny Novgorod Pobeda cars were produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant from 1946 to 1958. “Volga” began to produce in 1956.
