The NBU will start publishing derivative indicators of the Ukrainian Index of Interbank Overnight Rates

From August 10, 2022, the National Bank will start publishing derivative indicators of the Ukrainian Interbank Overnight Rate Index (UONIA).

According to Ukrinform, this is reported by press office financial institutions.

“From August 10, 2022, the National Bank introduces the calculation and publication of derivative UONIA indicators, namely the cumulative index and cumulative average UONIA rates calculated for periods of one, three and six months,” the message says.

According to the estimates of the National Bank, the calculation and publication of UONIA derivatives will contribute to the development of the floating rate and derivatives market in Ukraine.

It will also enhance the use of UONIA as a base rate in financial products and, accordingly, support the pricing of contracts between banks and their customers on a reliable basis.

Starting from August 10, 2022, the cumulative index and cumulative average UONIA rates will be published daily on the pages of the official Internet representation of the National Bank in the “Financial Markets” section (“Money market: UONIA dynamics” widget).

As reported, the National Bank is also tightening requirements for non-banking financial institutions and postal operators trading in currency values in cash (currency exchange).
