The Ministry of Economy considers direct payments for starting a business ineffective

The allocation of funds for starting a business turned out to be ineffective, so such mechanisms had to be abandoned, said Tatyana Ilyushnikova, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation. According to her, the system by which entrepreneurs received money without understanding the principles of doing business was found to be inoperative.

“Yes, this distribution of elephants turned out to be ineffective. We have abandoned the direct distribution of funds to open a business. Because the desire to open a business in one way or another arises from experience, lessons learned, competencies gained, and when you just get money for opening, not understanding how you will do it, it does not work, ”said Mrs. Ilyushnikova in an interview with TASS.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Economy also noted that over time, the ministry refused to support small and medium-sized businesses by segment within the framework of the relevant national project. “We have abandoned the previous segmentation, for example, in women’s or regional entrepreneurship. On the other hand, tools were added to support entire institutions, for example, the self-employed, ”she said.

Recall that in March 2021, the average loan size for small and medium-sized businesses increased, according to the Central Bank, to 6.1 million rubles. The regulator noted that the structure of lending to small companies has changed in recent months.
