The lower house of the Czech parliament excludes Russia and China from the tender for the nuclear power unit

The Chamber of Deputies (lower chamber) of the Czech Parliament has excluded companies from Russia and China from the tender for the construction of a new power unit at the Dukovany NPP, the Czech news agency reports. According to the decision of the chamber, it will be possible to use only the technologies of the countries that have joined the international agreement on public procurement for construction. RF and PRC are not included in the number of these countries. The decision must now be approved by the Czech Senate.

The tender for the construction of a power unit at the Dukovany NPP is estimated at € 6 billion. The commissioning of the new unit is scheduled for 2036. In May, the Czech Republic excluded the Russian state corporation Rosatom from the tender. The reason was the scandal between the two countries, which heated up after accusations by the Czech authorities of Russia’s involvement in the explosion at an ammunition depot in Vrbetica in 2014.
