The Investigative Committee opened a case after the shelling of the Drama Theater and the hotel in Donetsk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia are investigating the circumstances of the shelling of the center of the capital of the DPR by Ukrainian nationalists. According to updated data, the number of civilians killed in this strike has risen to eight people.

Recall that on August 4, at about 10:30 a.m., the Ukrainian side launched an artillery strike from heavy weapons on the Voroshilovsky district of Donetsk, where at that moment the farewell ceremony for Guards Colonel Olga Kachura was taking place.

As a result of the shelling, the building of the Donetsk State Academic Music and Drama Theater named after M.M. Brovun, the Donbass Palace Hotel and two residential buildings on Teatralny Avenue were damaged.

Earlier it was reported about six dead, according to updated data provided by the TASS agency, eight people became victims of the attack, including a 12-year-old girl. At least 11 civilians were injured.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under the article “Use of prohibited means and methods of warfare.” According to Russian investigators, Ukrainian nationalists acted deliberately in violation of the provisions of the Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War. The identities of the members of the Ukrainian armed formations involved in the commission of this crime are being established.
