The central square of Karachaevsk was named after a hero who died during a special operation in Ukraine.
The feat of the pilot Kanamata Botasheva, who at the cost of his life defended his comrades in the Donbass, is worthy of eternal memory. This statement was made by the head of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (KCHR)Rashid Temrezov.
Today, deputies of the Karachaevsk City Duma unanimously supported the proposal of the head of the region to rename the main square of the settlement in honor of Major General Botashev and install a monument to the Hero of Russia there.
“Our compatriot showed valor and courage in the course of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, and his feat will forever be in our hearts. It is on such people that the principles of honor, conscience and patriotism rest. It was these people who saved the world from fascism during the Great Patriotic War. It is these people who protect the security of our Fatherland and fight against Nazism now,” Temrezov wrote in his Telegram channel.
At the same time, the head of the republic noted that the life and military duty of Kanamat Botashev became an example of loyalty to the chosen path and a person’s love for his homeland.
Botashev died in the Lugansk People’s Republic on May 22. His comrades were surrounded by Ukrainian nationalists, and the pilot, despite the threat from enemy anti-aircraft guns, came to the rescue of Russian soldiers.
