According to von der Leyen, the new sanctions will close the gaps in the restrictions that were in the previous ones.
Earlier, the head of the EC said that the EU intends to prepare new sanctions against Russia by February 24, the anniversary of the start of the special operation. Presumably, they may include restrictions against the nuclear sector of the Russian Federation, at least this is what Poland and Lithuania are striving for.
However, Hungary strongly opposes such measures. Prime Minister Viktor Orban has already promised to veto such a decision by the European Union.
