Telecommunications operators and Internet providers received a one-year deferral to meet the requirements for an annual 15% increase in traffic storage capacity under the Yarovaya Law. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The press service of the government said that the decision will help reduce the burden on market participants. Operators can use the released funds to upgrade and expand the capacities of communication networks, the press release says.
According to the Yarovaya Law, telecom operators from July 2018 must store information about the content of conversations and text messages of users for six months, and from October 2018 – Internet traffic of users for 30 days, and then increase capacity for five years. storage by 15% annually. The postponement of the law’s requirements for a year is included in the government’s economic recovery plan.
