Eleonora Mironova, general director of a hostel in the south of Moscow where eight people died in a fire, refused to admit guilt and deleted all correspondence from her mobile phone before the search. This was announced by the investigator during a meeting in the Presnensky court of the capital on July 30.

“Mironova actively opposes the investigation, destroyed the WhatsApp application from her phone, deleted all correspondence. Moreover, she did not admit her guilt, did not repent of her deed, ”said the representative of the Investigative Committee.

Earlier that day, Eleonora’s father and part-time hostel founder Rauf Mironov was sent to a pre-trial detention center until September 29. He was charged under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence).

Mironov, in turn, during the meeting expressed his readiness to compensate for the damage to the relatives of the victims, but at the same time he did not agree with the charge against him.

A fire in a hostel in the south of Moscow occurred on the night of July 29. The fire broke out on the first floor of a 16-storey building in building 2 of house number 7 on Alma-Atinskaya street. Eight people were reported dead and eight others were hospitalized. The emergency services noted that death was the result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was a short circuit of an electrical appliance in a residential area. The exact cause of the fire will be determined by the results of forensic examinations.
