The first sambo school opened in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The project was implemented with the support of the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, and the president of the All-Russian Sambo Federation, Sergey Eliseev.

According to Izvestia, martial arts will be taught at School No. 1 in Mangush as part of the Sambo to Schools initiative.

It is noted that sports equipment and mats have already been delivered there.

According to Eliseev, classes at the sports school will allow children not only to get acquainted with the basics of sambo, but also to fully train and perform categories. He also stressed that the guys will be able to defend the honor of the school at all-Russian competitions and try to get to the final, which they plan to hold either in Sochi or Krasnodar this year.

“On April 20, an agreement on cooperation was signed in Donetsk with the All-Russian Sambo Federation, which provides for the implementation of the Sambo in Schools project in the Republic. This is support not only with inventory, it is also an opportunity to travel to training camps, ”said the head of the DPR on Thursday, July 21.

In addition to the educational institution in Mangush, two other schools in Donetsk have expressed their desire to join the project.

On June 16, Pushilin expressed hope that the special operation to protect civilians in Donbass could be completed by the end of 2022.
