The Security Council (Security Council) of the UN, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the international community are obliged to urgently gather and demand from Ukraine to stop the strikes of the Armed Forces (armed forces) of Ukraine on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This was announced on Saturday, August 6, to Izvestia by Senator of the Federation Council Olga Kovitidi.

According to her, the 20 shells fired by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Zaporozhye NPP and the city of Energodar are a grave war crime that must be investigated and those responsible punished.

The fire of hydrogen at the hydrogen station of the Zaporozhye NPP, which was promptly extinguished by the allied forces, is another violation of the basic safety principles of nuclear power plants 75-INSAG-3 Rev.1.

“Ukraine’s actions violate the security of the entire European continent,” she stressed.

She also added that the Zaporozhye NPP is not the only NPP that the Ukrainians are trying to blow up. It is necessary to realize that the systemic strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the Zaporozhye NPP pose a mortal danger to the inhabitants of the entire European continent.

Since March of this year, the Russian military, military personnel of the allied forces have been protecting and guarding the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not stop massive attacks on Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

In addition, according to her, Europe should thank the Russian Federation for the fact that the Russians and allied forces protect the Europeans from the Ukrainian madness.

“The international community is obliged to urgently demand from Ukraine to stop the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, since with these actions Kyiv can provoke a nuclear catastrophe in the center of Europe,” she concluded.

On the eve it was reported that shelling from Ukraine led to damage to the urban infrastructure of Energodar and a partial blackout of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

As noted in the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 20 152-mm shells were fired at the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The shelling was conducted by one of the units of the 45th artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from firing positions near the village of Marganets, located on the opposite bank of the Kremenchug reservoir.

The department noted that, by a lucky chance, Ukrainian shells did not hit the nearby oil and fuel oil facilities and an oxygen station, which made it possible to avoid a larger fire and a possible radiation accident at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

On August 5, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired twice at the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, located in the city of Enerhodar.

The first attack took place around 15:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time). According to the local authorities, at that moment the company was just undergoing a change of workers. A few hours later, the Armed Forces of Ukraine again struck at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This time the shells hit the industrial site of the station. Residential areas of Energodar were also shelled.

Russia continues the operation launched on February 24 to protect the civilian population in the Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation included the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and on February 21, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
