The European Commission (EC) announced its intention to develop a reform plan for the electricity sector, according to which the cost of electricity would not be based on gas prices. The corresponding statement was made by Lithuanian European Commissioner for Environment and Oceans Virginijus Sinkevičius during a meeting of the local parliament.
The EC intends to submit proposals for the development of the reform in March.
The parliamentarian noted that so far the details of the project have not been disclosed, as EU politicians are discussing this issue with certain interested parties. Who exactly participates in these meetings, Sinkevičius did not say.
