“Today, July 7, at the 187th meeting of the EU-CTC working group, it was decided to invite Ukraine to join the Convention on the Joint Transit Procedure, supplement this Convention with the 36th country – Ukraine, and invite Ukraine to join the Convention on the Facilitation of Formalities in Trade in Goods “, – the message says.
As Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service Vladislav Suvorov noted, this decision was the result of consideration of the conclusions of the final EU assessment mission, which took place on June 23-24, 2022.
According to Vytenis Alishauskas, an international expert on customs issues of the EU Public Financial Management Support Program in Ukraine (EU4PFM), it is expected that the international application of the joint transit system by Ukraine may begin as early as December 1, 2022.
As reported, on June 23-24, 2022, the final assessment mission of the EU continued in Ukraine regarding the readiness of the country’s participation in the international application of NCTS and accession to international customs conventions. The final assessment mission of the Directorate General for Taxation and Customs Union of the European Commission (DG TAXUD) has completed the study of Ukraine’s readiness to accede to the Convention on the Joint Transit Procedure and the Convention on the Facilitation of Trade in Goods, as well as to apply NCTS at the international level.
“Customs visa-free” is included in the priority areas of European integration of Ukraine.
