The damage to the crypto industry in six months amounted to $ 655 million

In the first half of 2023, the crypto industry lost about $655.6 million as a result of hacks, scams and rug pull. Such data was provided by Beosin experts.

Losses were distributed as follows:

  • $471.43 million – 108 hacker attacks;
  • $108 million – phishing scams;
  • $75.87 million – 110 rug pulls.

According to analysts, it was possible to return about $215 million of assets stolen by hackers. The indicator turned out to be significantly higher than last year – 45.5% against 8%.

Recall that in 2022, Beosin experts estimated the damage to the crypto industry from 167 major attacks at $3.6 billion. More than half of the total losses fell on 12 incidents with cross-chain bridges — $1.89 billion.
