The Bank of Russia will launch operations with real digital rubles on August 15. This was announced during a press conference by the First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova.
As part of the pilot, the regulator will test the opening of digital wallets by banks and customers, transfers between users and payment for the services of merchants using CBDC.
According to Skorobogatova, the introduction of the digital ruble in the future will allow building a system of cross-border payments with other countries.
Recall that the law on the digital ruble came into force on August 1. Citizens of the Russian Federation will have the opportunity to massively use the asset in 2025–2027.
Earlier, the regulator set tariffs for operations with CBDC.
