Tesla to build a new plant in Texas, Media reported

The American company Tesla against the backdrop of a conflict with the authorities of California chose the city of Austin in Texas to build a new plant, according to the Electrek portal, citing a source familiar with the situation.

According to the portal, the head of the company, Elon Musk, has already instructed the engineers of the Nevada plant to begin work on the project of a new plant, where it is supposed to produce electric cars – Cybertruck pickups and Model Y cars.

The portal notes that Musk expects to begin construction of a new plant in the near future and to launch production of Model Y cars by the end of next year.

Musk previously threatened to “immediately” transfer production to Nevada and Texas amid a conflict with California authorities. He criticized Alamida County authorities who did not allow the Tesla factory in Fremont to resume work due to the outbreak of a new coronavirus.

Musk emphasized that Tesla is the only automaker to have the capacity in California, hinting at a poor investment climate.

However, the portal indicates that the Texas plant construction project is not directly related to these claims.
