Russia’s response to the transport blockade of Lithuania in relation to Kaliningrad “will return as a boomerang” to the Baltic countries. Senator from Crimea Olga Kovitidi wrote about this in her Telegram channel. As a reminder, earlier it was announced that Lithuanian Railways would stop the transit of a number of goods going to Kaliningrad through the territory of Lithuania.
The senator noted that Lithuania, included in the group of countries with a critical level of poverty according to the conclusion of the European Commission, “once again shot itself in a sore leg.” The country is not able to keep its citizens, because people simply leave Lithuania, they do not want to live there.
According to Kovitidi, the fact that the decision of the Lithuanian authorities limits the mobility and opportunities of all residents of the Baltic states is obvious to everyone. The situation is aggravated by the fact that Russia will not disregard such an unfriendly attack against it, the senator noted.
Russia will respond to Lithuania’s decision to restrict the transit of a number of goods subject to EU sanctions for the Kaliningrad region, Governor of the region Anton Alikhanov said earlier. “Three serious proposals regarding response measures to Lithuania’s decision to restrict transit are being discussed, they may affect, among other things, the transport complex of the Baltic states, have been put forward,” Alikhanov wrote in his Telegram channel. “If illegal restrictions are not lifted by our European neighbors, we will propose to federal authorities to take appropriate action.”
