Russian tourists can enter Montenegro without COVID-19 test

Russian tourists can enter Montenegro without undergoing a PCR test for coronavirus and a visa, said Yakov Milatovic, Minister of Economic Development of Montenegro. If a tourist becomes infected with coronavirus in the country, free medical care will be provided, he added.

“I can say that Russian citizens can now enter Montenegro in the same way as they entered before the pandemic, which means no test requirements, visa-free entry,” said Mr. Milatovic in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which ended the day before.

Yakov Milatovich added that if tourists need a PCR test upon returning to their country, “the government provides them free of charge.”

The epidemic situation in Montenegro is conducive to the resumption of flights from Russia, the minister said. “Flights were canceled in March last year and have not been resumed. But given facts such as the excellent epidemic situation in a country that at this stage is arguably one of the best in Southeast Europe compared to countries like Cyprus, Greece, Turkey and Croatia, now is a great time to renew flights, ”he said.

Yakov Milatovich recalled that before the pandemic, in 2019, more than 400 thousand tourists from Russia visited Montenegro.

He noted that Montenegro’s tourism country faced a decline of 85% in 2020, and the economy collapsed by 15%. “We are especially counting on tourists who are familiar with Montenegro. Because at a time like a pandemic, people come to those places that they already know well, and Russian tourists know Montenegro well, ”the minister said.
