As part of the criminal proceedings on the fact of taking possession of property, at the request of the police investigator and the prosecutor of the Shostka District Prosecutor’s Office, on July 1, 2022, a court decision seized 42 railway cars belonging to companies registered in the Russian Federation.
“The wagons with inventory items entered the territory of Ukraine even before the start of the full-scale invasion of the occupiers and on February 24, 2022, they were on the territory of the border community. Later they were moved to another area,” the prosecutor’s office notes.
According to the investigation, the defendants in the criminal proceedings did not ensure proper storage of the indicated inventory items during transportation through the territory of Ukraine. To clarify the circumstances, criminal proceedings have been initiated (part 3 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the prosecutor’s office, the cars were recognized as material evidence and for the purpose of their safety they were seized.
The pre-trial investigation of the case is carried out by investigators of the Shostka District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region.
As Ukrinform reported, law enforcement officers seized 94 universal containers worth almost UAH 18 million, which were owned by Russian companies.
