Russian man detained in South Korea on suspicion of murder

South Korean law enforcement officials have detained a 50-year-old Russian citizen suspected of murder. On Wednesday, August 3, according to the Yonhap agency.

Police said on Wednesday that a Russian man on the run after the alleged murder of an Uzbek in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, was detained three days after the crime.

According to investigators, the detainee stabbed the victim several times. The victim died in the hospital due to his injuries. The suspect admitted that he attacked the man because he refused to return the debt.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is currently underway. Police have said they intend to request an arrest warrant for the suspect.

Earlier, on July 26, the court took into custody a 26-year-old foreign citizen suspected of murdering a 56-year-old man who worked as a cab driver in the Serpukhov urban district in the Moscow region. There was a dispute between the participants in the incident over payment for the driver’s services, during which the foreigner strangled the opponent, took his mobile phone and wallet from him.

In order to escape from the scene of the crime, he returned to Moscow, but the investigators identified him by surveillance cameras.
