Russian anti-aircraft gunner told how the military learned to deal with HIMARS in the Donbass

In Donbass, Russian air defense forces have learned to counter the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. According to an anti-aircraft officer from the “O” (“Brave”) group, his battery has already shot down more than one HIMARS missile, although this was not an easy task.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine began to use the American HIMARS systems in Donbass from the end of June. In total, the United States and its allies pledged to provide Kyiv with more than 20 such systems, 12 complexes have already been transferred to Ukrainians.

“I now consider the Buk M-3 anti-aircraft missile system to be the best universal air defense system,” the RIA Novosti officer said.

He noted that HIMARS rockets have become the most difficult target, as they fly at high altitude. The target is considered to be small in size, high speed, and the time to make a decision is minimal. However, knocking them down is real.

“The professionalism of our soldiers has risen to the highest level, and now it is not a problem to fight this system,” he said.

The day before, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that an arsenal with US-supplied ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and large-caliber M777 howitzers was destroyed in the Khmelnytsky region.
