Russia will resume flights with Turkey from June 22

The headquarters decided to completely restore air traffic with Turkey from June 22, said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. She added that from June 28, flights will resume to a number of countries: the USA, Belgium, Bulgaria, Jordan, Ireland, Italy, Cyprus and North Macedonia.

“At a meeting of the operational headquarters, a decision was made on the advisability of restoring aviation communication with the Republic of Turkey from June 22 this year,” said Ms. Golikova at a briefing (quoted by TASS).

Russia will also increase the number of flights to Austria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Greece, Qatar, Finland, Croatia and Switzerland. Ms. Golikova also said that Russia has allowed the entry into the country of citizens of the PRC and Liechtenstein.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, a number of foreign countries announced their readiness to receive Russians vaccinated against coronavirus with Russian vaccines.

Air traffic with Turkey was temporarily suspended on April 15 due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the Turkish state. Today, June 18, the headquarters of the country recorded 5575 cases per day. In Russia, the daily number of infections today is 17,262.

The date of the resumption of flights to the Egyptian resorts, to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh is still expected. The possibility of Russians entering Europe is connected with the future decision of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 “Sputnik V”. Also, this decision should be made by the World Health Organization (WHO). Ukraine, in particular, stated that it would allow entry only for vaccinated vaccines, which were approved by the WHO.
