Russia and the UN signed a memorandum on the export of fertilizers and agricultural products

Moscow breaks through the blockade on exports, which was established by the West. Russia and the UN signed a memorandum on facilitating the supply of Russian food and fertilizers to the world market. Another document, signed in Istanbul, defines the conditions under which the export of Ukrainian grain will be ensured. For example, all ships will be carefully inspected for weapons.

The documents that were signed today took more than two weeks to develop, and it was the Russian proposals that formed the basis of the final agreements. The main document that was signed today concerns the unblocking of exports of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world market. And here the United Nations will provide assistance.

“We are talking not only about the start of the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports, but, of course, work in the same direction on agricultural products, on the export of fertilizers from Russian ports. This is what we talked about today with Mr. Guterres. And about which the corresponding document from the Secretary General of the United Nations,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

A document was also endorsed, which unblocks the supply of Ukrainian grain. But here the safety of those ships that will carry out this delivery is at the forefront. A full inspection of these ships will be carried out in order to prevent provocations.

“Of course, we were interested in the fact that the possibility of inspecting ships going to Ukrainian ports was fixed in order to avoid the importation of weapons and military equipment there, which would allow the continuation of certain actions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu .

In fact, the Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that Kyiv had the opportunity to supply its agricultural products to the world community.

“We have been talking about this for a long time. To be precise, more than two months ago. On behalf of our president, we created a maritime humanitarian corridor in order to be able to export agricultural products from Ukrainian ports. The problem was one thing – it was demining inside the ports. This demining prevented further steps in the implementation of this project. As a result of great efforts, efforts on the part of the President of Turkey, Mr. Erdogan, meetings and efforts of our president, as well as Mr. Guterres and the United Nations, all these decisions were tied into one package. And today we have everything prerequisites and all solutions for this process to start in the very next few days,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stressed.

“We are proud to be able to contribute to an initiative that will play a key role in resolving the global food crisis. We will contribute to preventing the threat of hunger for billions of people around the world,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

A joint coordination center will be established in Istanbul to implement the agreements. It will include representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN. The Center will exercise control and coordination of the agreements reached today.

“Russia has assumed the obligations that are quite clearly spelled out in this document. We will not take advantage of the fact that in this case the ports will be cleared of mines and opened,” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

“Russia and Ukraine have overcome obstacles to pave the way for an initiative that will serve the common interest. Promoting the welfare of mankind has been the driving force behind these negotiations,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Among other things, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu today held a personal meeting with the Turkish Defense Minister. We talked about the situation in the Middle East. Shoigu noted that today the American presence in the republic actually violates all international norms. In addition, the US military simply blocked hydrocarbon deposits. And at the American bases today there are all conditions for the training of terrorist formations.

Of course, the main event of today – the unblocking of the supply of Russian agricultural products from Russia and fertilizers to the world stage with the assistance of the United Nations – is unlikely to please the collective West. Therefore, following the results of signing today’s agreements, they will try to place completely different accents.
