Rosstat: retail trade turnover in April grew by 34.7%

The retail trade turnover in the Russian Federation in April 2021 increased by 34.7% compared to the same period last year. This is reported by “Interfax” with reference to the report of the department.

According to statistics, the growth rates are explained by the introduction of a lockdown in April 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, when the volume of trade decreased by 22% compared to April 2019. In April 2021, retail trade grew by about 5% compared to the dock April 2019. Trade growth this month has exceeded analysts’ expectations, which predicted retail growth by 25.4% by April 2020.

According to Rosstat, retail trade turnover from January to April this year compared to the same period last year increased by 5.9%.

In May, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released data showing that the volume of world trade in the first quarter of this year increased by 10% compared to the same period last year and 3% compared to the last quarter before the pandemic (fourth quarter). 2019).
