From June 1 to June 7, consumer prices in Russia rose by 0.16%, Rosstat reported. Since the beginning of the year, inflation has increased to 3.65%. Prices for buckwheat, butter and sugar rose by 0.7%, 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
Products with the highest price increases:
- buckwheat and lamb – 0.7%,
- margarine – 0.6%,
- milk, frozen fish and biscuits – 0.4%,
- boiled sausages, canned meat and fruit and berries, caramel – 0.3%.
Prices for rye bread and wheat flour also increased (0.1% and 0.2%). On average across the country, prices for chicken meat have not changed. Eggs fell 4.1%. The cost of fruit and vegetable products increased by 0.3%.
Inflation slowed to 0.12% last week.
In May, consumer price growth in annual terms reached 6.02% after 5.53% in April, exceeding the local peak in March 2021 and returning to the values of the end of 2016. This may affect the decision by the Bank of Russia on the key rate.
