A dry cargo ship flying the flag of Cameroon, which requested help while off the coast of Tuapse, is not in distress – it just ran aground. The situation is stable.
This was reported in Rosmorrechflot. “It is in shallow water, there was a roll. There is a tugboat nearby if help is needed. There are 28 people on board – citizens of Georgia and Turkey,” the ministry’s press service told TASS. “The situation is still stable, we have no data that [судно] is in distress.”
It is known that the ship stopped off the coast of Tuapse tonight. The operation of the ballast system was disrupted, due to which the ship listed to starboard by more than 10 degrees. The cargo ship was carrying fruits and vegetables, only the crew is on board.
According to sources in emergency services, the crew is trying to repair the ballast system on their own, and a tug called from Tuapse is helping to pump out water due to breakdowns. To prevent the dry cargo ship from capsizing, the captain asked tugboats to deliver the ship to the berth and put it aground.
