Roskosmos announced the launch of a satellite for Iran

On August 9, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket will launch the Khayyam Earth remote sensing satellite into orbit from Baikonur. This was announced on August 3 by the press service of Roskosmos.

The launch of the carrier rocket with the Fregat booster block will also take place on the order of Iran. The spacecraft was manufactured by specialists from Roskosmos structures, the report says.

In addition to the Iranian satellite, 16 small vehicles created for various purposes by leading Russian universities, commercial companies and non-profit organizations will be launched into orbit as a passing load.

On July 23, the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle is scheduled to be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in the first ten days of August. It was noted that the rocket will put the apparatus into orbit in the interests of a commercial foreign customer.

The first launch of Soyuz-2 in Russia took place on February 5, 2022. The Russian Aerospace Forces launched Soyuz-2.1a with the spacecraft of the Russian Defense Ministry, which was supposed to be launched into orbit. The agency clarified that the pre-launch operations, as well as the launch, were normal.
