Zydus Cadila spokesperson said, “With the recent increase in cases of Covid-19 infection, the demand for Remedisvir has increased. We are currently producing it in three to four plants. To meet the demand, we have increased the production from 5-6 lakh vials to 10-12 lakh vials per month. We will now increase it to 20 lakh vials per month. ”According to the company, the supply situation will improve in the next few weeks.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories also said that it is making all possible efforts to reach more patients in India. The company said in a statement, “We are increasing production. We are bringing liquid products in the market which can be made and supplied rapidly. We have also reduced the MRP by 50 percent so that the price does not impede access to the injected patients. ”According to the statement, the company hopes to improve the situation in the next few weeks.
Pharmaceutical company Sun Pharmaceutical Industries said that it is expanding the capacity of Remedesivir production by tying up with Syngene to meet the growing demand. A Sun Pharma spokesperson said, “The company has already increased production and is currently producing Remedesivir at two plants. With the intention of increasing production, it decided to produce it in another plant. We are constantly monitoring the situation and are working tirelessly to ensure that the medicine is useful in the treatment of Covid-19 to the patients. ”
Cipla also said that he has improved Remedesivir’s production significantly this time as compared to the previous infection. According to the company, “We have doubled the production compared to the last time. In view of the unforeseen demand for medicine, we have further increased our capacity through our network. ”
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that there are seven manufacturers of Remedisvir in the country and their capacity is about 38.80 lakh units per month. According to the ministry, the Department of Pharmaceuticals is in touch with the domestic manufacturer to increase the production of the drug.
