Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin appealed to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC, a division of the US Treasury) with a statement to lift sanctions from him. The entrepreneur considers the restrictions imposed against him to be unreasonable, and also claims that they restrict his rights and freedoms. Mr. Prigogine has been on the US sanctions list since 2016.
The businessman sent a statement to OFAC today, June 18, according to the Russian-owned company “Concord”. Yevgeny Prigozhin also asked to be provided with the materials of the administrative case, on the basis of which he was included in the US sanctions list. “Evgeny Viktorovich points out that the sanctions against him were imposed unreasonably, with excess of authority and on the basis of arbitrary unpredictable actions that violate constitutional principles. … Taking into account the fact that these sanctions restrict his rights and freedoms, the applicant asks to consider the application as soon as possible and take appropriate measures to satisfy it, ”the press release says.
