Polish oppositionist called Germanophobia the idea of transferring Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine

The idea to transfer German anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) Patriot to Ukraine is Germanophobic. This opinion was expressed on November 24 by Andrzej Sheina, a member of the Sejm of Poland from the opposition left forces.

“This is madness. Activities to the detriment of Poland. Germanophobia. The government is not hindered by the fact that ministers drive German cars. But the fact that the Germans want to transfer missiles that will increase the security of Poland for some reason prevents them, ”he wrote on Twitter.

Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, speaking at the Civic Platform congress, also accused the country’s government of Germanophobia and intention to jeopardize Poland’s security.

Earlier, on November 20, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht noted that the incident with the fall of missiles in Poland revealed serious gaps in the European air defense (AD) system. The German authorities recommended Eurofighter fighters and Patriot systems to Warsaw to protect the sky. Poland accepted this proposal.

After that, on November 23, the proposal to transfer the Patriot to the Ukrainian authorities was voiced by the chairman of the Polish ruling Law and Justice party, Yaroslav Kaczynski, and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Poland, Mariusz Blaszczak.

On November 24, they were supported by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. He stated that the eastern border of Poland and the western border of Ukraine are one area that should be protected as best as possible.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of a Russian special operation to protect Donbass. Its beginning was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation due to the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
