Pelosi flew to Malaysia

A special flight with Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has arrived in Malaysia. According to the local news agency Bernama on August 2, the plane with the speaker’s entourage landed at the country’s Royal Air Force base in Subang.

In Malaysia, the speaker plans to meet with the speaker of the lower house of the country’s parliament, Azhar Azizan Harun, and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that on the same day, Pelosi was due to arrive at the head of his delegation at Sushan Airport in Taipei around 22.30 local time (17.30 microseconds). And on Wednesday, August 3, visit the Legislative Yuan (Taiwan’s parliament) and meet with the leadership of the island, including the head of the administration, Tsai Ing-wen. After that, around noon, she should leave the island, completing her brief visit.

On the eve of the Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the UN Zhang Jun warned Washington about the consequences of the visit of the speaker of the US House of Representatives to Taiwan. He noted that this would undermine relations between China and the United States.

The island, he said, is an integral part of China, the issue of Taiwan is a “red line” that the Chinese side will not allow anyone to cross.

The Japanese newspaper Nikkei Asia wrote on Monday, August 1, that the United States will send aircraft carriers and aircraft closer to Taiwan ahead of a possible visit by Nancy Pelosi to the island.

Prior to this, on July 19, the Financial Times newspaper reported on a possible visit of Pelosi to Taiwan. The publication wrote that the politician intends to visit the island to show support for Taiwan, which is under the growing influence of Beijing.
