Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said he is holding a certain amount of bitcoin and “a little” Toncoin (TON).
Against the backdrop of the announcement, the price of the token rose by several percent.

Durov also admitted that he bought back about a quarter of Telegram’s recently issued $270 million bonds, “in addition to the tens of millions” he has spent over the past 10 years to keep the messenger running.
“Some people have expressed the opinion that it would be better if I bought a house or a plane. But I prefer to stay focused on my work, without “owning” anything (well, except for Telegram, a small amount of bitcoin and Toncoin),” the entrepreneur wrote.
Pavel Durov added that every day the audience of the messenger is replenished with 2.5 million new users. The total number of the latter exceeded 800 million.
The founder of Telegram purchased 2,000 BTC about 10 years ago at a rate of $750. He admitted this in 2017.
Earlier, the Telegram team promised to develop non-custodial wallets and decentralized applications, including DEX.
