The first batch of oil from the United States in the history of the East European Republic has arrived at the enterprises of the Belarusian Naftan OJSC, the Interfax news agency reported. At noon in Minsk, American oil was transferred from the arrived tanks.
The company has already begun to prepare for the processing of incoming fuel. The rest of the cargo will be delivered to Belarus within ten days. Initially, oil was delivered to the Lithuanian port in Klaipeda.
From there, the cargo was redirected to OJSC Naftan. Transportation from Lithuania was handled by the state railway company of Lithuania. Over 20 trains were involved in the transportation of goods.
The purchase of American oil is the implementation of the Belarusian policy to reduce the risks of dependence on Russia. Earlier it was reported that Belarus will receive US oil on Thursday.
