Khusnullin called the deadline for the restoration of the Antonovsky bridge in Kherson

Antonovsky bridge across the Dnieper in Kherson will be restored early next week. On Wednesday, August 3, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, who is in the Kherson region on a working visit, told reporters.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the bridge was constructed back in the Soviet period and the specialists needed for restoration work were found in Russia.

“We sent the best bridge building company in the country, this is the same company that built the Crimean bridge. The guys are very professional, ”RIA Novosti quotes Khusnullin.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, by destroying such infrastructure facilities, the Ukrainian side creates problems not for the military, but, first of all, for civilians.

On July 27, the Antonovsky bridge across the Dnieper in the Kherson region was fired upon by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) from a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS). As a result of the attack, the crossing was seriously damaged.

Prior to this, the bridge was repeatedly attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The first attacks were made on July 19 and 20, as a result of which shell craters appeared on it. After that, the traffic on the ferry for freight transport was limited.

Antonovsky Bridge is the only road bridge in Kherson, connecting the western bank of the Dnieper, on which the city itself is located, with the left-bank part of the Kherson region.

Allied forces are leading the liberation of the Kherson region as part of a special operation to protect the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), which Russia launched on February 24. This happened against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region in mid-February. Then the authorities of the DPR and LPR reported on the increased shelling by the Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of the civilian population in the Russian Federation and made a request for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
