“The Kherson region is becoming part of a single powerful social, technological, energy, communication and information complex of Russia, and its people are becoming part of the Russian people,” the text of the document, which was adopted at the public forum “We are together with Russia”, held on July 30 in Kherson.
According to the text of the declaration, the Kherson region is recognized as a historical part of Russia, and the Russian language becomes the state language along with Ukrainian. The document says that in the near future the region is expected to develop agriculture, industry, science, culture, upgrade transport infrastructure and port facilities, social and construction sectors. It is noted that it is also planned to place a resort and tourist cluster in the region.
“For the future of the Kherson region, the fate of neighboring regions is important. The withdrawal of these regions from Ukraine with the liquidation of the Ukrainian state in its modern form would significantly improve the prospects for the Kherson region and the whole of New Russia, would provide it with collective security and peace, ”the text of the document says.
Earlier on July 30, former US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, in an article for 19Fortyfive magazine, said that the task assigned to the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) to recapture the Kherson region is beyond the bounds of the possible. According to him, at the moment, not a single army in the world can do this, while Kyiv’s desire for a counteroffensive could lead to the loss of an even larger part of Ukraine.
Earlier, in July, in an interview with Izvestia, military expert Vladislav Shurygin said that Ukraine did not have the opportunity not only to recapture the lost lands, but also to conduct a “distinct counteroffensive”. According to the expert, Ukraine has nowhere to get a dozen fully organized combat-ready brigades, and statements about a counteroffensive are needed in order to maintain morale.
Thus, he commented on the words of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, who said that President Vladimir Zelensky had given the order to recapture the southern lost territories. At the same time, he noted that Western countries should help the Ukrainian military in fulfilling their tasks.
The Kherson region of Ukraine, which borders Crimea, came completely under the control of the Russian military in mid-March during a special operation of the Russian Federation, the beginning of which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24.
At the end of May, it was reported that the region wants to become part of the Russian Federation and sees its future as part of Russia. Currently, the process of issuing Russian passports has already started in the region. A referendum in the Kherson region on joining Russia is planned to be held this year. The authorities of the region ruled out a return to Ukraine.
