Izvestia showed an art duel in Marinka, which is on the front line

The military is working on the front line of Marinka. Izvestia correspondent Semyon Yeremin showed how a so-called artillery duel is being waged between the allied forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VFU) – alternate artillery shelling.

“Smoke is visible ahead, apparently, there is a hit,” the journalist says.

According to him, all the houses in the city have long been abandoned. For a long time Maryinka was controlled by Ukrainian militants. Petal anti-personnel mines are scattered on the streets of the city to slow down the advance of the allied forces. Soldiers have to move very carefully.

“Now, as you hear, an art duel is taking place between the allied forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine – Ed.). Step by step we are taking our land back, we are liberating the republic. And in principle, we walked with you, we saw that where the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used to be, our guys are already there, ”said a fighter of the first corps of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) with the call sign Lekha.

On August 5, Assistant Minister of the Interior of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), Vitaly Kiselev, reported that more than half of the territory of Maryinka had been cleared and passed under the control of the allied forces. He noted that there are successes in other areas as well.

At the same time, in an interview with Izvestia, military expert Vladislav Shurygin noted that Artemovsk in the DPR, where military personnel of the allied forces entered on August 4, would most likely be taken in a week. And when Avdiivka and Marinka finally fall, then virtually the entire Ukrainian defense will be broken, he stressed.

Earlier, on August 3, DPR Deputy Information Minister Daniil Bezsonov said that the allied forces had driven Ukrainian troops out of the southern outskirts of Maryinka in the DPR.

Russia continues the special operation to protect the Donbass, which it launched on February 24. A few days earlier, the situation in the region escalated significantly due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and also turned to Moscow for help. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR.
